The Florida Gators had a real chance to take a 1-0 lead in the championship series of the Men's College World Series. They held a 3-2 lead going into the eighth inning against LSU, but gave up a home run in that inning before giving up another one in the 11th inning to lose 4-3. Now, Florida faces elimination and must win today in order to force a Game 3 on Monday night.
For Florida, simply making more contact will be a must if they want to hang around in this series. They struck out 20 times, comprising nearly two-thirds of their 33 outs in Game 1. Giving themselves a chance to get on base by putting the ball in play would certainly be helpful in Sunday's Game 2.
LSU Tigers
